Las Piñas marks cityhood, 115th founding anniversary

THE Las Piñas City government will celebrate its 25th year of cityhood on Saturday, March 26, followed by its 115th founding anniversary on March 27.

Mayor Imelda Aguilar in celebration of the cityhood and founding anniversary reported that the vaccination and booster shot offered to residents by the city government already reached 91% through the efforts and continuing hard work of the City Health Office (CHO) with the launching of “Bayanihan Bakunahan” at the city’s 20 barangays.

Aguilar said CHO teams were dispatched for the conduct of continuous house-to-house 1st and 2nd dose vaccinations and the administering of booster shots, especially for senior citizens and persons with disability (PWDs).

She said “Vaxx to School’ was also launched by giving vaccinations to students in preparation to face-to-face classes.

The mayor further said that the city government has likewise offered residents hospitalization support amounting to P30,000 with the issuance of “green cards” under the city’s health program.

Aguilar added that issued green cards can be used to the five accredited hospitals namely the Las Piñas Doctors Hospital, Las Piñas Medical Hospital, Perpetual Help Medical Center-Las Piñas, Philippine General Hospital, and San Juan de Dios Hospital.

Mayor Aguilar said the city government, through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), conducted a job fair wherein more than 182 applicants were hired on the spot.

The mayor said the job fair offers help to city residents looking for work, especially those displaced workers most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

She said a mass wedding will also be conducted for 115 couples living together to receive the sacrament of matrimony.

A painting exhibit at the City Hall lobby on Friday, March 25, was held showing how the city developed from a small fishing port and major salt-making center during the Spanish time that was later transformed into an important residential, commercial, and industrial suburb of Metro Manila.

Aguilar said the exhibit showcasing the development of the city will surely be appreciated by visiting residents and taxpayers.

The mayor said several infrastructures have rehabilitated Las Piñas into one of the developed cities in the National Capital Region (NCR).
