THE Las Piñas City government started to conduct a “house-to-house” vaccination of children aged 0 to 23 months old on Monday, targeting to reach 4,000 children in different barangays who are yet to receive a single vaccine due to the pandemic.

Mayor Imelda Aguilar and Vice Mayor April Aguilar said children received BCG or vaccines against tuberculosis, “Penta-hib” or the 5 in 1, oral polio, and measles that give protection against life-threatening diseases.

The city government wanted to become part of the “Chikiting Bakunation Day”, a Department of Health (DOH) project aimed to reach children who have missed out on routine vaccines due to lockdowns being implemented for two years in different barangays.

Mayor Aguilar said representatives of the DOH personally visited Barangay CAA on the first day of Chikiting Bakunation to conduct monitoring and evaluation of how the city government carried out its mission.

The City Health Office will try to reach the target number of children in 20 barangays all over the city to receive the free vaccines before the Chikiting Bakunation terminates on June 10, 2022.

Mayor Aguilar and Vice Mayor April Aguilar instructed the City Health Office to pay close attention to the health program to give children additional protection against deadly diseases.
