Lakas-CMD open to alliances, partnerships

THE Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD) on Friday welcomed the decision of the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) wing led by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi adopting Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte as its vice presidential aspirant in the May presidential polls.

The Lakas-CMD also said “Mayor Inday Sara has been espousing unity and cohesion for a better Philippines under the BBM-Sara UniTeam alliance that includes Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) of presidential aspirant Bongbong Marcos, to which Lakas-CMD has been very supportive.”

Cusi announced that the PDP-Laban wing has been finalizing the terms of its alliance agreement with Duterte, chairperson of the Lakas-CMD party.

“The Lakas-CMD extends its deep gratitude to all leaders and members of PDP-Laban for adopting our standard-bearer, Mayor Inday Sara Duterte, as their official candidate for Vice President in the 2022 elections,” the Lakas-CMD said.

“We welcome this development as an opportunity to renew our partnership with PDP-Laban, which has been a steady ally in pushing for social and economic reforms under the Duterte administration,” the party said.

The Lakas-CMD said it is always open to alliances and partnerships with other parties and political groups, which share its ideals and vision for the common good of the country.

“We hope that our efforts to forge unity with all parties supportive of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte would help realize our common dream of electing the team that would best serve the Filipino people,” the Lakas-CMD said.
