Laguna police collars gun ‘runner’, 2 drug ‘peddlers’

AN 18-YEAR-OLD suspected gun runner was arrested and 2 illegal drugs suspects were arrested in a separate buy-bust operation in San Pablo City, Laguna.

Acting Provincial Director of Laguna PPO (Police Provincial Office), Police Col. Rogarth Campo reported to Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) Regional Director Police BGen. Antonio Candido Yarra, the arrested suspect was identified as Andy Aguila, jobless, of Bgy. San Lucas, San Pablo City.

Joint operation of San Pablo Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit under the direct supervision of P/Lt. Col. Garry C. Alegre, chief of police and 1st Laguna PMFC 3rd Maneuver Platoon that Aguila was nabbed at 12:25 p.m. at Bgy. San Lucas 2, who sold 1 unit of caliber .22 pistol revolver without a serial number for P1,600.

During the preventive search, also confiscated from the suspect were 4 pieces of caliber 22 live ammunition and 2 plastic sachets of dried marijuana leaves and seeds with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) value of P1,000 and recovered P1,600 buy-bust money.

Reports said that the suspect was a known gun runner in the area of San Pablo City thus a buy-bust operation was conducted.

In other operations, Calamba City Police under the direct supervision of P/Lt. Col. Arnel Pagulayan, chief of police arrested Windell Puda aka “Den-Den”, 30, at Bgy. Real, Calamba City sold illegal drugs to a police officer who acted as a poseur buyer for P500.

A preventive search led to the confiscation of 4 plastic sachets of shabu with an estimated weight of 2 grams valued at P13,600.

In a separate police operation of Calamba Police, a 37-year-old construction worker identified as Ronie Lenticos was arrested at Bgy. Bucal, Calamba City after selling drugs to an undercover officer for P500.

Recovered from Lenticos were 4 plastic sachets of shabu with an estimated weight of 1 gram worth P6,800.

The arrested suspects are temporarily detained at the said police stations and will be charged for violation of R.A 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 and Andy Aguila will also be charged for violation of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) in relation to Comelec Resolution No. 10728 (Gun Ban). The seized evidence will be submitted to PNP (Philippine National Police) Crime Laboratory Office for forensic and ballistic examination.

PCol. Campo said “Kami po ay nagpapasalamat sa ating mga kababayan na patuloy na nagbibigay ng impormasyon sa ating mga kapulisan upang tuloy-tuloy na malabanan ang iligal na droga sa ating komunidad gayun din ang illegal na pagbebenta ng baril na maaaring magamit sa krimen.”
