SANTA CRUZ, Laguna – Governor Ramil Hernandez and his wife 2nd District Rep. Ruth Hernandez on Thursday endorsed Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, who is seeking the vice presidency under the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) party.

They made the endorsement during Mayor Sara’s “meet-and-greet” with barangay volunteer workers, barangay nutrition scholars, and members of the “Serbisyong Tama Kababaihan” at the Laguna Sports Complex in Sta. Cruz town.

Gov. Hernandez told his constituents that aside from being the daughter of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, the Davao mayor is known for her own accomplishments in her city.

“Kilalang-kilala din siya sa sarili niyang kakayahan. Siya po ay hindi pangkaraniwang mayor lamang dahil siya po ang outstanding mayor of the Philippines… sapagkat siya lamang ang katangi-tanging mayor sa buong Pilipinas na nakakuha ng 93% job approval rating, nalampasan niya pa yung record ng kanyang ama nung mayor [pa ito] na 86%,” he said.

He said the Davao mayor could be trusted with bigger challenges and responsibilities in a bigger area of governance.

Hernandez said Laguna should support the Lakas-CMD candidate for vice president as a show of gratitude to President Duterte, who has given Laguna the resources it deserves from the national government.

For her part, Rep. Hernandez said she idolizes Mayor Sara as a woman and a public servant.

In an ambush interview, Mayor Sara said UniTeam would change its campaign strategy starting next month.

It will be equal parts, online campaigning and face-to-face,” she said.
