Laguna anti-crime raids net 202 suspects

A TWO-DAY conduct of a province-wide “One-Time, Big-time” anti-criminality operations in Laguna led to the arrest of 202 lawbreakers, 72 of them known illegal drug personalities and 59 others all wanted for various criminal offenses, the Journal Group learned on Tuesday.

Laguna Police Provincial Office (LPPO) Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Colonel Randy Glenn G. Silvio, said that recovered from the 72 arrested drug personalities were an estimated P245,000 worth of shabu.

In a report to Police Regional Office 4-A (PRO4-A) director, Brigadier General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., the official said that of the 59 wanted persons apprehended, four are among the regional level “most wanted persons” (MWPs); 20 are city/municipal MWPs; one is a provincial MWP; and the rest are with outstanding arrest warrants.

The official said that their conduct of the “Simultaneous Anti-Criminality and Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO) from Wednesday to Friday last week likewise led to the arrest of three persons for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013.

Silvio said that also arrested during the period were 68 local residents involved in illegal gambling activities amid their stepped-up campaign against all forms of illegal number games and other banned gambling activities in the province.

The official said that one of the arrested drug suspects, a resident of Calamba City, yielded five plastic sachets containing an estimated P13,600 worth of shabu and an unlicensed caliber .45 pistol with a magazine containing five live ammunition.

Appropriate criminal charges have been filed against the arrested lawbreakers while the apprehended wanted persons are set to be presented to the court for further disposition, Silvio said.
