SAN JOSE DEL MONTE, Bulacan – Should he earn a seat in the Senate in May, former Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson will draw inspiration anew from our national heroes from Bulacan and from Cavite.

In his speech at the rally of the Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial slate here, Lacson said both Bulacan and his native Cavite have their share of heroes in our rich history.

“We who have served and are serving here, we get inspiration and motivation from our heroes in Bulacan and Cavite. And out of our love for our country, we wish to serve well to the best of our ability,” he said in Filipino.

Lacson said Bulacan and Cavite both played a major role in Philippine independence – such that they are both symbolized in the eight rays of the sun in the Philippine flag.

He also noted that after the Philippine flag was first raised in Kawit, Cavite on June 12, 1898, the Malolos Congress was held on September 15 the same year.

Also, he said that while Bulacan boasts of Marcelo H. del Pilar, Francisco Baltazar and Gregorio del Pilar, Cavite boasts of Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo, Gen. Mariano Alvarez, and Gen. Mariano Trias.

“If I am given a chance to serve in the Senate, what I can promise is that I will not waste your vote because I will serve with my full honesty, ability, and integrity,” Lacson stressed.
