Kuya Kim and family to spend white Christmas in Colorado
TV host and health advocate Kim Atienza, fondly Kuya Kim to most who know him, is prepared to spend a white Christmas in Vale, Colorado with his family – wife Fely and three children, Jose III, Eliana and Emman.
The two older ones are based in the US and they are skiers. Jose is working in Boston (Massachusetts) while his daughter is studying at University of Pennsylvania (U-Penn). His third and youngest just finished high school.
They are staying in the US for only ten days – from December 21 to January 4. “We just want the family to spend time together,” Kuya Kim says. “Fely and I will do a lot of eating while the kids go skiing.”
The snow in Colorado, now at -11 degrees Celsius, is one of the best there is, according to Kuya Kim. “We taught the kids how to ski at a young age and they are very good skiers.”
There’s nothing material that Kuya Kim wishes for this Christmas. “I just want my children to be safe,” he declared. “And I want my kids to find themselves and have a deeper relationship with God.”
Kuya Kim is happy that things are doing well as far as his life and family are concerned. “I want my TV career to continue,” he said. “I’ve been blessed and I have nothing but gratitude.”
Thankfully, his health didn’t bring any challenges this 2024. He is grateful that GMA Network “adopted” him and he recently renewed his contract for three more years.
“To be relevant at this point in my career in this state of Philippine television, is such a blessing,” Kuya Kim said. “We have a lot of friends around who are doing nothing. They can’t find work. TV has been changing its landscape and I have been around.”
He has a regular show on GMA Network, “Ang Dami Mong Alam, Kuya Kim,” an info-tainment program that has been doing well in the ratings and bringing in a good load of advertisement.
The all-natural and organic Santé Barley powder has Kuya Kim as brand ambassador for 13 years now. The product is ideal for weight control, fighting diabetes or infection and is full of anti-oxidants and nutrients the body needs.
“It doesn’t cure anything but is ideal for prevention,” pointed out Kuya Kim. “I saw how Santé Barley has grown through the years. Barley is grown in a farm in New Zealand.”
“When Santé Barley was starting 13 years ago, I’m so proud of the fact that I was the first one whom they got as brand ambassador. To see Santé Barley grow, where I’m part of the family, it’s great to know.
Kuya Kim first met Sante Barley International chief executive officer (CEO) Joey Marcelo. “Aside from my relationship with Joey, the product is good,” said Kuya Kim.
“For us, it’s more than just an endorsement,” said Santé Barley CEO Joey Marcelo. “We share the same passion. It has been an inspiration to our Santé family. We encourage our team to have an active lifestyle. Kuya Kim is an epitome of an active lifestyle.
The first year, Santé Barley already earned millions of pesos. Today, after 13 years, Santé Barley has made billions of pesos.
Kuya Kim has been endorsing Santé Barley for 13 years now. “I’m happy because when I first got into Santé Barley, it was just starting out,” he informed. “They asked me if I could be their endorser and I gave my nod.”
Surprisingly, from day one of Santé, Joey admitted he didn’t know anything about Barley. “We wanted a foreign-sounding name, so we adopted Santé, which is French for health. Our goal was how can we be known internationally. Santé is synonymous with health and wellness.”
Barley is not starch, emphasized Santé Barley board member Minette Carag. “You may sprinkle barley to your dishes. It’s grass, so nothing is starch.”
Other Santé Barley executives in Kuya Kim’s contract renewal were Eric Maranan (Chief Finance Officer), Minette Carag (board member), Kim Atienza (brand ambassador), Joey Marcelo (CEO), Karen Marcelo (finance director) and Paul Caluag (managing director – Asia 1)
Others in the pipeline of Santé Barley products are skin care and home care products to be introduced soon.
