CHRISTIAN Standhardinger scored 27 points as defending champion Barangay Ginebra demolished Blackwater, 119-93, to snap a two-game losing skid in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.

Standhardinger was at his best in the first quarter when he scored 11 points to power the Kings to a commanding 37-20 advantage.

The 6-8 Fil-German also had six rebounds, and five assists in 36 minutes of action for the Tim Cone-mentored Kings.

It was a fitting follow-up for Standhardinger, who had 29-10-7 performance in a losing effort against his former team, San Miguel Beer.

Jamie Malonzo added 25 points, including five three-pointers, seven rebounds and three assists, while Justin Brownlee contributed 22 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, two steals, and two blocks.

Scottie Thompson also made his presence felt for Ginebra with 11 points, four rebounds, and seven assists in the win.

Overall, Ginebra improved to 4-2.

“I don’t think we did anything special, we just played our usual game,” said Cone.

Comebacking Shawn Glover led Blackwater with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Baser Amer, Ato Ular and Yousef Taha added 12 points apiece while RK Ilagan had 11 points for the Bossing,who fell to 1-7.

Ginebra will next meet Meralco on March 1 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Blackwater’s next opponent is NorthPort on Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.
