IN a boost to local tourism, Kalibo International Airport (KIA) has announced the opening of new international flight routes due to increased demand for air transport.

KIA currently serves daily international flights to and from Incheon, South Korea from Air Seoul (W-Th-Sa-Su) and T’way Air (daily).

Additionally, flights from Tiger Air will also be added at KIA. Tiger Air will be flying the Taipei-Kalibo and vice versa route starting on December 29, 2022.

The new routes will provide travelers with greater access to the region and support the growing tourism industry in the area, as tourist hotspot Boracay Island is also located in the province of Aklan where KIA is located. The development is expected to generate significant economic benefits for the Kalibo community, including the creation of new jobs and the expansion of local businesses. This marks a major milestone for KIA and its surrounding community, and is a testament to the increasing popularity of the region as a destination for travelers from around the world.

“We are happy to announce the opening of new international flight routes at Kalibo International Airport and we are confident that these new flights will be a great success and will help to further enhance the attractiveness of the airport as a leading transportation hub to the Visayan region,” said Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Director General Captain Manuel Antonio Tamayo said.
