GOVERNMENT Service Insurance System (GSIS) President and General Manager Rolando Ledesma Macasaet recently announced that the pension fund will provide insurance coverage to 6,600 Philippine Postal Corporation (PhilPost) personnel including permanent and contractual employees and postmen nationwide.

“COVID-19 has put the world at a standstill, running for more than a year now.

PhilPost has allotted a budget of P616,000 for the insurance coverage. It is the second agency that partnered with GSIS to insure their personnel. Last June 14, the Manila City Government approved a P7.5 million insurance coverage to around 45,000 barangay officials, including tanods and chairpersons of the Sangguniang Kabataan.

At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in April 2020, GSIS launched the Bayanihan Fund for Frontliners. Under the program, the family of public frontliners who would succumb to COVID-19 are entitled to an additional P500,000 in insurance benefits over and above their life insurance benefits as GSIS members.
