A 50-YEAR-OLD vendor tagged as an alleged member of a private armed group in Maguing, Lanao del Sur, surrendered to local police on Thursday with his M-16 automatic rifle, a report to Philippine National Police Officer-in-Charge (PNP-OIC) Lieutenant General Vicente D. Danao Jr. said yesterday.

The suspect, described as a member of the “Kalamongay Group”, which has been included on the watchlist of the PNP Directorate for Intelligence, turned himself over to local policemen following negotiations with intelligence officers.

“This was made possible through the collaborative efforts of Maguing Vice Mayor Mohammad Fahad Hadji Malik, and other stakeholders. Together, we share the same vision of achieving lasting peace,” Lt. Gen. Danao said, referring to the suspect’s surrender to the Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office (PPO) officials.
