A VILLAGE councilman on Sunday night was killed in front of his family in Lipa City, Batangas.
Slain was Rene Laylo, 60.
The suspects were identified as alias “Jack” and Marciano Olan alias “Sano.”
Police said the two were village watchmen in Bgy. Antipolo Del Sur in Lipa City.
Laylo and his family were in an owner-type jeep when the suspects approached the victim at 10 p.m. on Sunday.
The victim and the suspects had a heated argument until the two barangay tanods shot Laylo in the head.
The suspects fled after the gun attack.
Seized at the crime scene were one cal. 45 pistol with six ammunition, an extra magazine with seven bullets, five cartridge cases, two cartridge cases for cal. 45, a cellphone and the Suzuki tricycle used in the village patrol.
Authorities are pursuing the suspects and investigating the motive for the killing.
