CAVITE 1st District Representative Ramon ‘Jolo’ Revilla III filed a legislative measure mandating all funeral parlors, homes, and services to include a funeral package for poor individuals and their families on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at the House of Representatifves in Quezon City on their first regular session of the Nineteenth Congress

Revilla noted that the ordinary Filipino family continues to struggle in the face of the current health crisis, particularly in providing for funeral and burial expenses for their deceased family members.

Despite the aid coming from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through AICS or Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation and burial assistance from the LGU, Revilla added these are not enough to help Filipinos living below the poverty line.

Under House Bill 3678, poor Filipino families may avail of the P15,000 funeral package which includes retrieval and embalming of deceased, selection of casket, viewing of body, and interment services.

Said bill aims to prevent the possible imposition of exorbitant rates by funeral parlors and provide decent funeral and burial service for poor individuals and their families.

“Magbigayan at magtulungan tayo, dahil ang lubos na mas maaaapektuhan dito ay ang mga kababayan nating hirap sa buhay.”, Revilla added.

Revilla believes the measure will be huge relief for indigent Filipino families to overcome the challeneges brought about by the pandemic.

The said bill was also co-authored by Bacoor City Congresswoman Lani Mercado-Revilla, Agimat Partylist Representative Bryan Revilla, Presidential son and Ilocos Congressman Ferdinand Alexander Marcos, Congressman Marcelino Libanan, Congressman Dean Asistio, Cong Nicoloas Enciso III and Cong. Ralph Wendell Tulfo.
