Jobless man shot dead in Batangas

Police are hunting a collector for fatally shooting a jobless man in San Juan, Batangas on Sunday.

San Juan Municipal Police Station chief PMAJ Arlan V. Perez identified the victim as a 40-year-old Jerry Manimtim y Delos Reyes, with a live-in partner, jobless while the suspect who is still at large identified as Richard Delizo Berania, 34, a collector, both residents of Bgy. Escribano, San Juan.

A telephone call was received by San Juan MPS from San Juan District Hospital informing that they admitted a victim of a shooting incident at 10:30 p.m. on January 16.

Case officers PCMS Manimtim MZ and PCpl Care BE initial investigation showed that Manimtim was in his home when called by the suspect who was just arrived onboard a white Honda XRM motorcycle, and when the victim went outside, without any provocation, Berania shot the victim twice using a caliber .30 carbine rifle.

The suspect immediately sped off heading towards Bgy. Sico 1.

The bloodied victim was quickly taken to the hospital but pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician, Dra. Ronalie G. Tamondong.
