Jobless man collared after killing ‘grandma’

AUTHORITIES arrested a 38-year-old jobless man after hitting an elderly in the head using a hard object in Tanauan City, Batangas, yesterday.

Tanauan City Police Station Chief Lt. Col. Ariel B. Azurin identified the victim as Adelina Burgos Tapia alias “Nanay Dedling”.

The suspect is now detained at the police station lock-up cell, identified as Jonar Tapia, single, both residents of Bgy. Boot, Tanauan City.

A telephone call from village Boot Secretary Jonalyn Bermudez was received by Tanauan CPS informing the tragic incident.

Case officers P/Cpls. Alexis T. Mendoza, Julius Andrew D. Dionisio, and Leo Arnie Leycano’s investigations showed that around 6:50 a.m. Mary Joy Burgos, a neighbor of the victim, discovered the lifeless body of the old woman lying on the chair inside the kitchen.

According to Burgos, she did not know that the suspect was still inside the house, and out of fear, she quickly ran away and immediately sought assistance from the barangay officials.

Police learned that the old woman was struck by a heavy object in the head that caused her instantaneous death.
