JGFP to hold IMG qualifiers at Eagle Ridge

EXPECT another action-packed competition when the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines (JGFP) holds the Philippine qualifying meet of the IMG Academy Junior World Golf Championships at Eagle Ridge in Cavite.

JGFP president Oliver Gan said a total of 140 participants are expected to see action in the event that will determine the country’s representatives to the prestigious golf competition in the US.

Gan said only the best four players er division will earn tickets to the IMG event..

“It’s this time of the year again that we’re excited with the qualifying for the IMG because we all know what’s at stake,” said Gan.

“The JGFP has been an outstanding partner of the San Diego Junior Golf Association (SJGA) for the junior worlds since the 1970s and we thank them for continuing to trust the JGFP.”

“We have 140 junior golfers from ages 9-18 vying for 32 slots and coming from all local junior golf associations and organizations, from different clubs with kids coming from Baguio all the way to Zamboanga,” added Gan.

There will be 12 participants in the 9-10 girls category, and 19 in the 9-10 boys, while nine golfers will seek spots in the 11-12 girls, 15 will try their luck in the 11-12 boys division.

A total of 11 will play in the 13-14 girls, 23 in the 13-14 boys, 16 in the 15-18 girls, and 29 in the 15-18 boys.

The annual meet will have the 6-under and 7-8 boys and girls divisions play at the Singing Hills Pine Glenn and Pine Oak courses at Sycuan Resort on July 16-22 in El Cajon, California.

The 11-12 years old will be played at the Heights Golf Course in San Diego, while the 15-18 divisions will be played at Torrey Pines, and the 13-14 is set in various golf courses.

The JGFP recently had its 6-under boys and girls, and 7-8 boys and girls’ qualifying meet.

Stephanie Gaisano-Gan and Kenzo Gavin Tan ruled the girls and boys U6, while Kamilla Edrianna del Mundo and Sooreen Lee won in the 7-8 boys and girls divisions.
