Janno hesitant to do a threesome with Maui and Rose Van

JANNO Gibbs does a provocative sex-comedy, “69+1”, where he plays the third wheel in the sapphic relationship of Maui Taylor and Rose Van Ginkle. Didn’t he have any reluctance in doing the project?

“Yes, I had reservations at first, kasi sensitive ang material,” he says. “But with Darryl Yap as the writer-director, siguradong maganda ito at siguradong patok, so I agreed to do it. Tungkol sa threesome ito. May love scenes kaming tatlo nina Maui at Rose, but the thing is it’s all presented in a comedic way, kaya mas naging kampante ako. Since it’s a sex-comedy, mas more comfortable for me kasi it’s not serious na sexy.”

So how did the story go? “Lovers sila for seven years at gusto nilang i-test ang relationship nila so they get me to join them. Sa love scenes, it helps that that the three of us know each other na and we’ve worked together before so we’re not strangers to one another.”

What does he think of their so-called polyamorous relationship? “Doing this film, we all realized that ‘yung sinasabing polyamorous relationship, it’s not that easy pala and it’s more complicated than we think. One difficulty na nakikita ko, kung tatlo kayo, mahirap na hindi ka mag-favor sa isa over the other one. Dapat equal ang love mo, but you can’t help but fall in love more with one over the other. Hindi mo basta maba-balance ang pagtingin mo.”

How will he describe their love scenes? “Actually, ako, I come in later on. Sa umpisa, mostly sila ang magka love scene. Both Maui and Rose are very professional, so napakadaling gawin ang scenes naming tatlo as they’re both very dedicated to the movie.”

Would he make his family watch the movie? “No, even ‘Pakboys’ na sex comedy rin, hindi ko pinapanood sa wife and daughters ko. Although they understand my work as an actor, but I still feel it’s awkward for them to watch their dad in such scenes. Ako, kahit matagal na ako sa industry, I can say this is the most daring role I’ve done kasi most of the movies i’ve done comedy, naughty rin, pero not this naughty. But knowing Direk Darryl, I’m sure with class ang pagkakagawa niya rito.”

She’s happy that Rose Van Ginkle is launched in this film. “We did a series for Sari-Sari channel that ran for three months and this is her time to shine. She deserves to have this starring role.”

What can he say that some folks find the trailer too vulgar? “Even my cousin told me ayaw niya ng napanood niya sa trailer ‘yung line na Maui told me, puede mo kaming (using the Tagalog word for the sex act). Pero let’s face it, now, compared to abroad, bale wala itong ginagawa namin. Maski dun sa ibang pinalabas sa Vivamax like ‘Nerisa’ and ‘Taya’, wala kaming sinabi doon, bale wala itong amin kasi comedy nga ito. Ayaw lang nila ng Tagalog word pero sa mga palabas na Ingles, like sa Netflix, halos every minute kung sabihin nila yung English word for that, di ba?”

So does it at least offer a moral lesson? “Wala po, wala pong lesson dito. Hahaha! Hindi, marami, marami kayong mapupulot ditong insights about relationships, not only about polyamourous relationships, but universal, kahit anong klase ng relationship. It will help make you think. What does it take to make you happy? And what does it take to make you stick together?”

Has he ever tried a polyamorous relationship? “No, I’m in a polyanimal relationship, kasi we have alagang three cats sa bahay.”

But if ever, would he agree to be the plus one in a relationship just like in the movie? “Ang tanong dyan, kung papayag ba yung asawa ko (Bing Loyzaga). Naku, jojombagin ako noon. Pero siguro kung binata ako, papayag , why not try it?”

The movie will start streaming on Vivamax on September 3 and Janno is turning 52 years old on September 16 and he was born in 1969, so you can say this movie is his special birthday presentation.

Limitless

Julie‘Limitless’ a great learning experience for Julie AnneJULIE Anne San Jose has a new concert and it’s a series of three shows. The first leg was shot in Mindanao and will be shown on September 17.

The second leg will be shot in the Visayas and the third and final leg will be shot in Luzon.

“When I learned about the concept of ‘Limitl;ess,’ it really got me excited,” she says. “First time for me to do a concept like this and it’s also my first time to go to the places in Mindanao we’ve been to and it’s worth it. Just preparing for it is already a breathtaking experience. I’m baring my heart and soul in this concert and it makes me feel more inspired with living life as I discovered myself even more. I think this will definitely be one for the books, and food for the soul. I want to thank GMA, my parents, my fans and of course, the Lord. I wouldn’t be I am today without their support.”

The three-part musical journey is set to unveil the different facets of Julie as a singer, songwriter, dancer, actress, and multi-instrumentalist. But the biggest revelation comes to Julie as she searches for new inspiration in this journey of discovery that takes her to unexpected locations in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

“Going to Mindanao for the first leg of our concert is a big relief for our team kasi we’ve been restricted for some time now and it’s the first time naming naka-travel na lahat since the pandemic started,” she says. “We’re grateful to the people of Mindanao who helped us and even arranged our itineraries like La Palmera Ridge in Grand Mountains. I met some indigenous people in the mountains who were very warm in welcoming us and got to know a lot about their culture which is very educational for me.”

Julie Anne is currently one of the hosts of GMA’s top-rating program ‘All-Out Sundays.’ She is also set to return with Rayver Cruz as Clash Masters in the all-original musical competition ‘The Clash.’

She just topbilled the heartwarming GMA rom-com series ‘Heartful Café’ opposite David Licauco and will soon be starring on an online video streaming platform’s musical series “Still” with Christian Bautista.

The LIMITLESS star previously landed on the digital cover of Spotify’s EQUAL playlist for the Philippines with her song “Free,” which took the No. 2 spot on iTunes Philippines Chart just a few hours after its official release.

Directed by Paolo Valenciano, “LIMITLESS, A Musical Trilogy” is produced by GMA Synergy. The team is behind the Philippines’ first-ever virtual reality concert—“Alden’s Reality: The Virtual Reality Concert” —which was held last December. The concert’s TV airing, “Alden’s Reality: The Virtual Reality Concert TV Special,” is a finalist at the New York Festivals Awards.
