It’s San Miguel

SAN Miguel Beer played just hard enough to beat Meralco, 113-108, to clinch No. 5 in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
Devon Scott topscored for the Beermen with 32 points on 11-of-15 shooting on top of 13 rebounds in 35 minutes of action.

Marcio Lassiter added 13 points, including three three-point shots, while Terrence Romeo, who played his first back in the conference due to injury, contributed 12 points on 16 minutes in the floor.

CJ Perez and Jericho Cruz had 10 points each and June Mar Fajardo had nine poiints and six rebounds for San Miguel, which led by as many as 25 points.

San Miguel is set to meet No. 4 Converge FiberX in a best-of-three quarterfinal showdown.

KJ McDaniels finished with 27 points, eight rebounds, four assists three blocks and two steals in 38 minutes.

McDaniels led a late rally by the Bolts, who trailed by 21 points, 73-94, at the end of the third period but outscored the Beermen, 35-19, in the final 12 minutes.

Aaron Black added 21 points, Raymar Jose contributed a double-double of 16 points and 17 rebounds and Bong Quinto had 15 points in Meralco’s losing effort.

Meralco bowed out with a 4-8 win-loss record.

Later, Magnolia outplayed Rain or Shine 106-90, to secure the No. 2 seed with its 10th win in 12 matches.
