It’s Akari

AKARI brushed off a first set defeat to repulse Nxled, 21-25, 25-20, 26-24, 25-18 and rediscover its winning ways in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference last night at the Philsports Arena.
The Chargers lost setter Michelle Cobb, who was stretchered off the court early in the second set with an apparent neck injury and was bought to the hospital.
Rallying behind Cobb, Akari leveled the match at 1-1 and fended off a tough Nxled challenge in the third set before overcoming an early 6-10 deficit in the fourth to prevail.
The Chargers improved to 4-4 record in the standings.
Ivy Lacsina led Akari with 17 points, matching Fifi Sharma’s two service aces, Eli Soyud had six blocks for a 15-point effort, while Faith Nisperos also scored 15 points.
“We are going to create our culture, building our team. If we are not consistent, that’s our problem. If we are going to unite, play as a team, that’s the time we can win,” said Chargers coach Taka Minowa.
Chaira Permentilla paced the Chameleons with 20 points and nine digs while Lucille Almonte added 13 points, including three service aces.
Akari will look to build on their momentum with back-to-back wins when it faces Capital1 on February 1.
Nxled fell to 0-7 and also extended its losing streak to 14 matches, dating back to the 2024 Reinforced Conference.
