Italian traders urged to invest in PH

THE Philippine Embassy in Italy encouraged Italian firms to consider investing in the Philippines citing its strong economic fundamentals and strategic location.

Philippine Ambassador to Italy Domingo P. Nolasco joined the other Ambassadors of ASEAN countries with embassies in Rome in promoting trade and investment between Italy and the ASEAN region and its individual member states at the business events held recently in Turin and Cuneo, Italy.

Nolasco, together with the Ambassadors of Malaysia and of Viet Nam, the Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. of Thailand, and the Minister Counsellor of Indonesia served as speakers during the panel session on Italy-ASEAN relations at the second edition of the TOASEAN Business Days held at Palazzo Madama in Turin.

He shared why it is a good time to do business in the Philippines even in the wake of the pandemic.

In his remarks, the Ambassador underscored that the country’s strong economic fundamentals, strategic location which gives opportunity to access to the over 600 million ASEAN market, human capital advantage, and stable business environment give superb opportunities for foreign investors to set up in the Philippines and partner with local companies.

The Ambassador also encouraged investments and cooperation between the Philippines and Italy in complementary industries, particularly in infrastructure and constructions, aerospace, renewable energy/ green economy, and machinery.

The event, jointly organized by the University of Torino and the Torino Chamber of Commerce, was attended by around 80 persons onsite, while the other participants and some speakers joined virtually.

The second edition of the TOASEAN Business Days was opened by key officials of Turin, including Mayor Stefano Lo Russo and Mr. Dario Gallina, President of the Torino Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Romano Prodi, former President of the European Commission and former Prime Minister of Italy, was the keynote speaker at the event.

As part of the TOASEAN Business Days, online B2B sessions will be conducted from 01 December 2021 to 31 January 2022.

Nolasco, together with the Ambassador of Malaysia and the Minister Counsellor of Viet Nam participated in a business forum on Southeast Asia held in Cuneo.

He encouraged investments in ASEAN and its individual countries, particularly the Philippines. Around 40 businessmen attended the event held in presence.
