Israel deployment ban lifted
THE Department of Labor and Employment lifted the temporary suspension of deployment of overseas Filipino workers to Israel.
Labor Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III issued the memorandum on the lifting of the suspension of the ban to Labor Attache Rodolfo Gabasan of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Israel.
“In the interest of service and based on the recommendation of the Department of Foreign Affairs to withdraw the temporary suspension of departure of OFWs to Israel as there has been low level of incidents between the Israel Defense Force and Palestinian militant groups since the Hamas ceasefire took effect on May 21, 2021, you are hereby instructed to effect the lifting of the suspension of departure of OFWs to Israel effective immediately,” Bello said.
The DOLE temporarily suspended the deployment of OFWs to Israel last May, amid the on-going tensions between Israeli forces and Gaza’s armed groups. The DFA recommended the lifting of the deployment suspension to Israel.
