MANILA Mayor and Aksyon Demokratiko presidential candidate Isko Moreno will not be handing over President Rodrigo Duterte to the International Criminal Court (ICC) when he becomes President of the country in the coming elections.

“It is the duty of the President to protect each and every Filipino citizen, both here and abroad. They (ICC) have got to prove that our own justice system is not working. A President must ensure that every Filipino is protected from harm and his rights are given,” Moreno said.

According to Moreno, the country has an intact, existing, and running justice system through various courts like the Metropolitan Trial Court, Regional Trial Court, Supreme Court, and Court of Appeals, among others.

“If there are complaints against any Filipino as a suspected criminal, he will have his day in court as guaranteed in the Philippine Constitution. All Filipinos will be given [an] equal opportunity under my rein and under our own existing judicial system,” the mayor stressed.
