MANILA Mayor Isko Moreno has recovered from COVID-19 and has been discharged from the Sta. Ana Hospital. He will be quarantined for three more days.

Moreno’s attending doctor, Sta. Ana Hospital Director Dr. Grace Padilla, said the mayor had been stable for days prior to his discharge Wednesday, which was the 11th day since his symptoms came out. He was also cared for by Dr. Nerissa Sescon, chief of the Manila Infectious Disease Control Center based in the same hospital.

Moreno thanked all those who have offered prayers, well wishes and other forms of support during his confinement and that of Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna, who got infected and discharged ahead of him.

“I am extremely proud of and grateful to our city’s medical and health frontliners owing to my first-hand experience with them. I am also very proud of our very own Sta. Ana Hospital,” Moreno said.

The mayor said his recovery was made easier by the fact that the operations of departments involved in the delivery of basic services went on normally even if he and Lacuna were not physically present in City Hall.

“I am really proud of our fellow officials and employees who showed to one and all that the system we have established in the city government really works similar to muscle memory,” Moreno said.
