AKSYON Demokratiko presidential bet and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno said he will build a cancer hospital in the country when he becomes President.

Moreno stated this during a break in his campaign sorties in Santiago, Isabela where he was met by a five-year-old boy whom he helped get a liver transplant operation in India when he was not yet a Manila Mayor.

Moreno said his desire to build a hospital exclusively for cancer patients is borne out by the fact that cancer patients who do not have money practically have to beg for financial assistance from politicians.

“Nung araw, dinala ako ng nanay ko sa San Lazaro. Yung nanay ko kailangang iwan ako sa ospital para maglabada. Mahirap ang buhay kapag may sakit ka. Doble hirap,” Moreno recounted.

It was learned that the liver recipient, Rimmuel “Toytoy” Bucaling, first met Moreno in 2018.

He was brought by his mother to the office of Moreno when he was only 2 years old and needed a liver transplant but their family could not afford it.

Bucaling was suffering from “Biliary Atresia”, and needed an immediate operation at that time.

Moreno made arrangements and spent around P2 million for the boy’s operation that was done in India.

The operation was successful and his mother continues to express gratitude to Moreno for his help that changed their lives.
