SHOULD he be elected President, Aksyon Demokratiko presidential bet Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso said he will not be hostile to critics of his administration.

In an interview with local radio station DXDD in Ozamiz City on Tuesday, Domagoso said he will listen to the political opposition without setting aside the need for urgent action on important matters in government.

“I will try to be reasonable to them. I will listen first to them, kung valid ba ang kanilang pagiging oposisyon sa isang bagay. Then, if it makes sense, then I’ll listen. If not, diretso ulit. Kasi ikaw ang binoto ng tao. Ikaw yung aasahan. Ikaw yung mamamahala,” he said.

Citing his experience working with officials from different parties, the 47-year-old mayor said he will encourage dialogue and reason in his administration.

“I can work with anybody. It’s proven already in Manila. Thirty-eight councilors ‘yan (plus) Vice Mayor. Halal din ‘yan ng bayan. Marami diyan, mga lawyers, mga kilalang pamilya. Pero nung ako ang namamahala, kinakausap ko sila and try to be reasonable. Nagiging makatwiran tayo sa kanila,” Domagoso said.

However, Domagoso said he will not let endless debates paralyze the operations of the government.

“I try to convince (them) as much as possible. Kasi ang sabi ko sa kanila, basta tayo, malaya ang diskurso. Malaya ang debate. Pero yung mga debate, diskurso na ‘yan, walang magagawa sa buhay ng tao ‘yan. Gusto ko, pagtiklop ng araw, may desisyon,” he said.
