“ANG barangay ay malaking factor para sa paglaban ng lungsod at mapagtagumpayan natin ang laban sa coronavirus.”
Thus said Manila Mayor Isko Moreno as he and Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna led yesterday’s awarding of of Outstanding Barangays during the regular flag-raising in City Hall. Also present was Barangay Bureau Director Romy Bagay and Lei Lacuna, head of the Liga ng mga Barangay in Manila.
Moreno stressed the role of barangay chairmen in the city as he recognized their efforts in helping the city government succeed in its programs.
In return, Moreno said he and Lacuna will do everything to try and stay ready and ahead of the problems of the city.
Yesterday, 18 outstanding barangay chairmen were given awards for their effectiveness in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic.
Among others, Moreno lauded the barangays for their role in the implementation of curfew, quarantine and health protocol.
Those who received awards were as follows: District 1– Bgy Chairmen Dale P. Evangelista – Bgy. 56,Joel D. Gungon – Bgy. 117 at Rodrigo A. Aniban Jr. – Bgy. 126; District 2– Bgy. Chairmen Michael Jordan G. Castillo – Bgy. 160 Lourdes S. Gutierres – Bgy. 163 and Ramon D. Perez – Bgy. 256 ; District 3– Bgy Chairmen Roderick P. Bautista – Bgy. 272,Ariel D. Sierda – Bgy. 303 and Victoria Grande – Bgy. 377; District 4– Bgy Chairmen Leninsky I. Bacud – Bgy. 435 , Evelyn E. de Guzman – Bgy. 451, at Jerome Chua – Brgy. 585; District 5– Bgy Chairmen Geraldine R. Sia – Bgy. 674,Ariel L. Dakis – Bgy. 731, and Rutchie V. Atienza – Bgy. 810 ; District 6– Bgy Chairmen Jonathan T. Garzo – Bgy. 604, Danilo A. San Bueno – Bgy. 635 and Michi R. Castro – Bgy. 841.
Moreno meanwhile also called on the citizens of Manila to continue being responsible citizens and abide by barangay regulations.
