INCLUSIVE PROGRESS
FILIPINOS were assured that economic progress in the country is inclusive under the leadership of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez made the remark during the groundbreaking ceremony for the P388-million Estancia-Manlot-Calagna-an-Sicogon submarine cable power interconnection project at the Ayala Estate, San Fernando in Sicogon Island, Iloilo.
Iloilo officials led by Reps. Boboy Tupas, Jam Baronda and Ayala executives headed by Fernando Zobel de Ayala attended the ceremony.
“Malinaw po ang kautusan ng ating Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. sa mga kasama niya sa gobyerno: Walang dapat maiwan sa pag-unlad! Ang kaunlaran ay para sa lahat; hindi lang para sa mga lungsod, kundi pati sa ating mga isla at liblib na lugar!,” Speaker Romualdez said.
“At hindi po dito nagtatapos ang ating misyon. Tuloy-tuloy ang ating laban para sa mas maliwanag, mas maunlad, at mas patas na kinabukasan para sa bawat Pilipino,” he said.
“Ngayon, habang sinisimulan natin ang proyektong ito, hindi lang tayo naglalagay ng submarine cable, nagtatayo tayo ng mas maliwanag, mas masagana, at mas maunlad na kinabukasan para sa inyong lahat!” he said.
The House leader lamented that there are people criticizing Congress in its allocation of funds in the national budget.
“Mga kababayan, alam ko pong may mga bumabatikos sa Kongreso ngayon. Sinasabi nilang nasasayang ang pera ng taumbayan, na may hindi tamang paggasta sa ating pambansang pondo,” he said.
“Ito ang sagot ko: Narito ang inyong buwis! Napupunta ito sa proyektong may direkta at malinaw na benepisyo sa ating mga kababayan!,” he said.
Speaker Romualdez enumerated the benefits of the submarine cable project linking Iloilo islands: more business; more tourists; more jobs; better education; better supplies of electricity; and others.
He added that the electricity interconnection project is proof that taxes are spent prudently and returned to the people in terms of services and projects that uplifts lives.
“Ito ang katotohanan: ang pera ng bayan, dapat bumabalik sa bayan! Sa Kongreso, masigasig kaming nagbabantay upang matiyak na ang bawat pisong ibinabayad ninyo sa buwis ay napupunta sa mga proyektong may direktang pakinabang sa inyo,” he said.
“Ang P388 Million Submarine Cable Interconnection Project ay hindi lamang simpleng proyekto ng elektripikasyon. Ito ay ilaw ng pag-asa, ilaw ng kabuhayan, at ilaw ng kaunlaran para sa mahigit 13,000 pamilya sa mga islang ito,” he said.
