TO help the government boost energy supply, a lawmaker filed a measure giving incentive to the development of Renewable Energy (RE) storage facilities.

House Bill 295 author Bacolod City Representative Greg Gasataya underscored the need to support President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on his initiative to look for ways on how to increase the power supply in the country.

“As part of the legislature, we should support administration initiatives that address pertinent national issues such as energy supply,” Gasataya said.

Earlier, Marcos said the administration is eyeing the creation of more storage facilities to address the problems of energy supply in the country.

Gasataya ‘s bill aims to provide the same incentives to developers of renewable energy storage facilities under Section 15 of the Republic Act 9513, also known as the Renewable Energy Act of 2008.

The solon stressed that the Energy Storage System (ESS) will play a significant role in revamping the renewable energy regulatory policy and framework to encourage the use of more sustainable methods in energy production.

Gasataya added that the energy reform in the country is a pressing issue as the underprivileged suffer the most in energy price fluctuation due to insufficient supply.

The bill aims to deal on issues of sustainable national development and affordability of energy prices.

The bill is currently under consideration at the House Committee on Energy chaired by former Speaker Lord Allan Jay Velasco.
