IMUS City Mayor Emmanuel Maliksi tested positive for COVID-19 on August 16, 2021.

Maliksi, who has fever, is now confined at the South Imus Specialist Hospital on Dc Ilano Boulevard in Anabu 2-C, Imus City. He had been fully vaccinated with Sinovac.

“Sa kabila ng ating labis na pag-iingat habang nagseserbisyo sa ating mga kababayan, ikinalulungkot ko pong ibalita na ang inyong lingkod ay positibo sa COVID-19,”Maliksi posted on his Facebook account.

“Ganoon pa man, tuloy ang serbisyo para sa ating mga kababayang Imuseño habang tayo ay nakaisolate at kasalukuyang nagpapagaling sa South Imus Specialist Hospital. Mananatiling bukas ang mga serbisyo ng pamahalaan para sa inyo lalo na sa kritikal na panahong ito. Pagtutulungan at panalangin ng kagalingan at maayos na kalusugan ang tanging hiling natin para sa lahat. Babangon tayo at sama-sama nating malalagpasan ito,” Maliksi added.

Imus City has a total of 10,688 confirmed cases, 1,344 active cases (102 admitted in hospitals, 1,210 underhome quarantine and 22 in isolation facilities), 9,027 recoveries and 317 confirmed deaths as of August 14, 2021, according to a report of the Imus City Health Office.

Two of the mayor’s family members have died of COVID-19. They are former Cavite Governor Erineo ‘Ayong’ Maliksi last February 25, 2021 and sister Joan Maliksi on April 29, 2021.
