IMUS City Alex “AA” Advincula has endorsed the use of “bayong” or nipa bags in the market in the city of Imus in line with the celebration of “Earth Day,” Saturday, April 22, 2023.

Advincula led the use of bayong in the Imus market to avoid plastic use and reduce the pollution it causes in the city.

The mayor was joined by Councilor Totie Ropeta, ABC President AJ Sapitan, and Chief of Staff Jeff Purisima and distributed 200 pieces of bayong for shoppers at the Imus Public Market.

The bayong distribution project will be done by the local government unit (LGU) every Saturday at the said market.

Prior to this, Advincula also led the clean-up drive held in Barangay Bucandala to mark Earth Day.

He also announced that every barangay should conduct a clean-up drive every Saturday in their respective barangays.

Meanwhile in General Trias City, as part of the Earth Day 2023 celebration, the College of Engineering, Computer Studies, and Architecture of Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) General Trias City campus spearheaded a series of clean-up drive activities in several barangays Trece, Bacoor, Naic, Tanza, Silang, all in Cavite.

The initiative aimed to promote environmental awareness and encourage the community to actively preserve and protect the environment.

The clean-up drive was participated by students and faculty members together with the local barangay officials who provided supervision to ensure that the clean-up drive activities were organized and carried out safely and effectively. With the cooperation and efforts of the participants, they were able to make a “positive” impact on the environment and inspire others to do the same.
