Imelda Aguilar, daughter reelected in Las Piñas

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Las Pinas City has proclaimed incumbent Mayor Imelda Aguilar and her daughter Vice Mayor April Aguilar as the winners in the city’s mayoral and vice mayoralty races.

Mayor Aguilar won her third and last term with 108,644 votes against her closest rival Doc Ferds Eusebio, who got 38,285 votes, while her daughter April garnered 123,457 votes for her second term as vice mayor.

Atty. Edgar Feliciano Aringay, chairman of Board of Canvassers, along with Atty. Marilyn Cynthia Fatima Luang as vice-chairperson and Dr. Joel T. Torrecampo of the Division Office of Las Piñas as member-secretary proclaimed the mother and daughter team and their city councilors at around 10:30 a.m. at the Las Piñas Session Hall.

Mayor Aguilar expressed her sincere gratitude to all her constituents, who continued to support their candidacy as she vowed to provide much better services to the people of Las Piñas.

“Lahat po ng programang isasagawa namin sa huling termino ng aking panunungkulan ay sinisiguro kong magiging kapakipakinabang sa lahat ng Las Piñero higit lalo na sa kinabukasan ng mga kabataan at ng buong lungsod ng Las Piñas,” Mayor Aguilar said.

Meanwhile, House Deputy Speaker Camilla Villar also won her second term as representative of the lone district of Las Piñas City, garnering 130,812 votes against Louie Redoble, who received 65,751 votes, and Felipe Garduque II with 18,249 votes.

Villar is the daughter of former Senate President Manny Villar and Senator Cynthia Villar. By Edd Reyes
