THE San Joaquin Municipal Hall in Iloilo was placed on a lockdown starting Thursday after 18 of its employees tested positive for coronavirus disease-19.

The local government unit said the temporary closure of the town hall was to pave the way for disinfection.

The building will be opened on September 1.

To ensure the continuous public service, an Operation Center was set up in front of the municipal hall to serve residents and those with official transactions.

Reports said four of the employees on Monday initially tested positive for the dreaded virus.

A swab test was immediately made on people whom the four had got in close contact with.

The result of the swab test was released last Thursday, showing14 other employees also tested positive for COVID-19. They are asymptomatic.

According to the Iloilo Provincial Health Office, San Joaquin has 64 COVID-19 cases.
