Ilocos cops relieved amid viral slapping video
MEMBERS of the Pasuquin Municipal Police Station in Ilocos Norte who were seen in a viral video slapping a man were ordered administratively relieved from their posts and are now undergoing criminal and administrative investigation, Police Regional Office 1 director Brig. Gen. Lou F. Evangelista said yesterday.
“They were relieved from their post and are now being subjected to a probe,” the official told the Journal Group.
In a press statement, the PRO1 director said the viral video of police officers from Pasuquin Municipal Police Station in Ilocos Norte who were allegedly engaged in acts of violence against individuals inside the police station has raised significant concern and outrage among the public.
“I have already ordered the immediate validation and investigation of facts surrounding the incident. Any violation of the PNP rules and standards committed by police officers, once proven, will be addressed with utmost seriousness,” he said.
Evangelista, however, urged the public to remain calm and allow an impartial investigation of the incident.
“Rest assured that the PNP will remain committed in ensuring transparency throughout the process and will provide updates of the case as development arises,” he said.
