KUNG walang kasalanan, wala umanong dapat na katakutan si dating Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte sa pagsasagawa ng imbestigasyon ng International Criminal Court (ICC) kaugnay ng kanyang madugong war on drugs.

Ayon kay Manila First District Rep. Ernesto Dionisio na kaisa siya ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. sa paniniwala na wala ng hurisdiksyon ang ICC sa Pilipinas.

“Personally, I, like all of us congressmen here, stand with the President that ICC really has no jurisdiction. But if you have nothing to hide – more or less – why will you be afraid when ICC comes in?,” sabi ni Dionisio sa isang news briefing.

Ganito rin ang posisyon ni Lanao del Norte First District Rep. Mohamad Khalid Dimaporo, chairman ng House Committee on Muslim Affairs na humarap din sa news briefing.

“If there is nothing to hide, then why fear the ICC?,” sabi ni Dimaporo. “On the part of the President, it’s more of our national sovereignty that our institutions are still functioning.”

Sinabi ni Dimaporo na gumagana ang law enforcement at hudikatura ng bansa kaya hindi na kailangan pang pumunta sa bansa ng ICC upang magsagawa ng imbestigasyon.

“I don’t believe it will be a detriment on the part of the Philippine government to have it confirmed by the ICC – whether there was or whether there was not any extrajudicial killings during the concept on the war on drugs of the previous administration,” dagdag pa ni Dimaporo.

Naniniwala rin si La Union First District Rep. Francisco Paolo Ortega V na walang hurisdiksyon ang ICC sa Pilipinas, gaya ng pahayag ni Pangulong Marcos.

Pero iginagalang umano ni Ortega ang opinyon ng 59 porsyento na nagsabi sa survey ng OCTA Research na sila ay pabor sa pagsasagawa ng imbestigasyon ng ICC kaugnay ng war on drugs ng Duterte administration.

“We stand with the decision of the President, but we also respect the survey. Perhaps people are seeing the irregularities, and these will really come out in surveys,” sabi ni Ortega.
