SENATOR Christopher “Bong” Go said that he can work with anyone if elected as Vice President in the 2022 polls.

He emphasized that his priority is to pursue the continuity of programs of the current administration and expand it further to sustain the positive change that President Rodrigo Duterte has started.

“I can work with anyone. Mula noon hanggang ngayon, walang pili naman po ang pagseserbisyo ko sa tao. Rerespetuhin ko kung sino ang ihahalal ng taumbayan sa pagkapangulo,” said Go in a statement on Wednesday, October 6.

Go has pledged to be a “working vice president” if the Filipino people elect him, stressing that he will not merely be a “spare tire,” but rather a public servant who ordinary Filipinos can rely on.

“At kung mabibigyan naman ako ng pagkakataon ng mga kababayan natin, I will be a working Vice President na gagawin ang lahat para makapagsilbi sa mga Pilipino hindi lang sa salita, kundi sa gawa. Hindi ako magiging spare tire o reserba lamang,” the Senator said.

Go filed his Certificate of Candidacy in Pasay City on October 2, accompanied by President Rodrigo Duterte. Go said that his decision to run was motivated by his desire to carry on the Duterte Administration’s legacy.

“Bilang opisyal at kandidato naman ng PDP-Laban, kaisa ako ng aking mga kapartido sa aming hangaring maipagpatuloy ang mga magagandang programa at makabuluhang pagbabago na nasimulan ni Pangulong Duterte,” said Go.

The senator added that the party “will support a presidential candidate who can push for the continuity that the people want.”

“Nabanggit ko rin noon pa na hindi ako tatakbong pangulo kung hindi si Pangulong Duterte ang Vice President. Iyon ang dahilan kung bakit nagdesisyon ako na tumakbo bilang Vice President,” he added.

Meanwhile, Go expressed his gratitude to Filipinos for their continued support for him and the Duterte Administration. He assured them that he would keep pushing for programs that would continue the change that the present administration had started.

“Sa mga minamahal kong kababayan, maraming salamat po sa patuloy na paniniwala at suporta ninyo sa amin ni Pangulo at sa buong administrasyong Duterte,” said Go.

“Patuloy nating iparamdan sa bawat sulok ng bansa ang mga magagandang programa at pagbabagong inumpisahan at ginagawa ng administrasyong ito,” he added.

Go, on the other hand, explained that despite his vice presidential bid, he remains focused on his duties as a senator and public servant especially in assisting the government and the general public in combating the COVID-19 pandemic.

51 out of 81 governors support Bong Go for VP

AFTER its initial release of 41 governors expressing support for PDP-Laban Vice Presidential aspirant Senator Bong Go, 10 more governors has signified their commitment bringing the total to 51 out of 81 provincial governors nationwide.

In a manifestation of support, the governors said that Go gained wide and valuable insights from being a long-time close aide to President Rodrigo Duterte on local and national governance.

They added that such experience has prepared the senator for a higher public office.

“Having come from the ranks of local public servants, we have no doubt that Bong Go understands the issues we face 24/7 in our respective provinces,” they said.

The provincial executives noted that in less than two years of being a senator, Go has institutionalized the Malasakit Center, a project he and President Duterte started before the former presidential aide joined the Senate.

Go is the principal author of Republic Act (RA) 11463, or the “Malasakit Centers Act of 2019.”

“The senator from Mindanao has made affordable health care accessible to Filipinos through the Malasakit Center, which is a one-stop shop for medical and financial assistance several government agencies allocate for the sick, who now have to go to just one office instead of laboriously seeking help from one agency to another,” said the governors.

There are now 141 Malasakit Centers throughout the country. These centers serve hundreds of sick poor Filipinos every day.

“With our support, if he is elected vice president, Bong Go promises to continue President Duterte’s programs, particularly his campaign against illegal drugs, criminality and corruption. These are some of the problems we continue to face as local officials, despite the administration’s gains in stamping out such nefarious activities,” the governors said.

“We, provincial governors, crossing party lines, support the candidacy for vice president of Sen. Bong Go and vow to campaign tirelessly for his election to the country’s second highest elective position,” Eastern Samar Gov. Ben Evardone said in a statement.

Bong Go recalls of how he thought of establishing the one-stop shop for medical and financial aid.

“Sabi ko, bakit natin papahirapan ang ating kapwa Pilipino, eh sa totoo lang po, pera nila ‘yan. Dapat po ibalik sa kanila sa pamamagitan ng mabilis, maayos at may malasakit na serbisyo,” Go said.
