A YOUNG boy was injured and some houses in Barangay Bagong Silang lost their roofs when a strong wind like a big hurricane hit the area Sunday afternoon in Caloocan City North.

Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan was saddened by report that the boy had to be taken to the hospital after being hit by a flying galvanized roof in Phase 3B Brgy. 176 Bagong Silang past 3 p.m.when a strong wind hit the area at the height of the heavy downpour.

Mayor Oca directed the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) to find out if anyone else was injured and how many families were affected by the sudden and extraordinary occurrence.

The city chief executive also mobilized the Public Safety and Traffic Management Department (PSTMD) and the City Environment and Management Department (CEMD) in conducting clearing operations in the affected areas.

“May mga natumba kasing mga puno at isang nakaparadang kotse pa nga sa Palmera St. Brgy. 175 ang nadaganan. Sa kabutihang palad ay wala namang sakay ang nabagsakang kotse,” Mayor Oca said.

Meanwhile, Barugo Road in Bagong Silang was temporarily closed to traffic to pave the way for the removal of fallen large trees. Motorists are advised to take alternative routes to avoid heavy traffic.
