HPS chapters established nationwide, overseas

BAGONG Henerasyon party-list Rep. Bernadette Herrera and spokesperson of Hugpong para kay Sara (HPS) said the movement is now preparing an economic roadmap for the next six years which Mayor Sara Duterte can study and base her decision whether to run for President in 2022, or not.

To prepare the roadmap, HPS is gathering relevant data through indepth research studies on issues paramount to various sectors in the country, including economic recovery plan during pandemic, poverty, China-US relations, West China Sea, human rights, unemployment, drug war, extra-judicial killings and the state of the nation’s education system, among others.

The results of these research studies will be crucial in helping Mayor Sara make one of the most difficult decisions in her political life.

HPS chapters formed nationwide

HPS, a citizens movement comprising of various groups, academe, lawmakers and marginalized sector, is formed to convince Mayor Duterte to run for the highest post of the land. It will be officially launched on September 12.

“We’ve set up HPS, and is now snowballing through the regions as people from all sectors, walks of life, and political inclinations are joining it as we go along,” declared Herrera.

The number of organizations and individuals in the country and overseas throwing their support for HPS continue to increase. HPS chapters have been formed in the National Capital Region including San Juan, Pasig, Caloocan, Paranaque, Quezon City, Makati and Muntinlupa.

In Bicol, various local groups in Legaspi City and Ligao City, Albay and Masbate were also established.

Cezar T. Bordeos, Jr., the son of the former Mayor of Legazpi, Judge Cezar Bordeos Sr., a known longtime supporter of the Liberal Party, is the vice president of the Legazpi City chapter.

“Mayor Sara Duterte has the ideal characteristics of a good leader and we believe that her expertise can transform us to a better country,” Bordeos, Jr., said.

Other chapters are also being formed in Nueva Ecija, General Trias in Cavite, Lipa City in Batangas, as well as in seven municipalities of Sarangani province.

Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) in the Middle east such as Kuwait and Dubai, as well as in Florence, Italy and Canada, have signified their support and clamor for the Davao City mayor to run.

Call for Sara to run

Herrera said the movement banded together because they see in Mayor Sara Duterte all the qualities to continue the legacy of her father, and can improve on it to help the country and the economy in the next six years.

“She is the perfect person with her personality and being confident, yet quiet and reserved pero palaban at may totoong malasakit para sa bayan,” Hererra said during an interview with Radyo Pilipinas.

Mayor Duterte has yet to decide whether to run or not for the presidency in the 2022 national elections. Herrera is calling HPS supporters to join them in convincing Mayor Duterte to seek the highest post in the land.

“Kung kayo po ay nagtitiwala din kay Mayor Duterte, samahan ninyo kami na i-convince siya na tumakbo,” Hererra said.

Mayor Sara is spending a lot of time and thought to whether she will run for President. This has actually endeared her to many Filipinos who see her as a leader who thinks carefully before she acts, and will go all the way when she makes her decision.
