The Philippine government emphasizes that the State “shall protect every worker against injury, sickness or death through safe and healthful working conditions thereby assuring the conservation of valuable manpower resources and prevention of loss or damage to lives and properties consistent with national development goals”.
In response to this, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) through the Bureau of Working Conditions enacted the “REPUBLIC ACT No. 11058, An Act Strengthening Compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Standards and Providing Penalties for Violations Thereof”. In short, non-compliance with this regulation will result in severe government fines at around ₱100,000 once caught and then ₱40,000 per day until completing the requirements.
The good news is that in order to meet the requirements of the RA 11058, HSS will be providing FREE complementary courses as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), as a way to show their commitment, and also to give back to the community. The first one is “Introduction to RA 11058 for HR practitioners” (October 15, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.) and the second one is “BOSH SO1 + TOT for Micro and Small Enterprise (MSE’s) with less than 50 employees” (October 27). This will clearly bring relief to struggling MSE’s by helping them to comply and save money in the long run.
As we know that COVID-19 virus infection is a hot topic today and a lot of misinformation is spreading through social media, professional trainers at HSS have developed some courses to bring light and show the latest updates regarding its prevention. The central topic is “COVID-19 Vaccine: Debunking the Myths, and Reinforcing the Facts”, comprising two courses as well: the first course is designed for MSE’s and the next one is tailored for nurses (earn 4 CPD units). Both will take place on October 15 and 18 from 1 pm to 6 pm completely for FREE and with an E-Certificate.
