Housing project fixers

PEOPLE, particularly the poorest of the poor, find it hard to understand why there are still “fixers” or “scammers” in the national government housing projects.

And to think that President Marcos’ administration is determined to ensure the success of its multi-pronged housing program.

In other words, Marcos, through concerned government offices, will never allow unscrupulous individuals to torpedo efforts to meet the housing needs of the people.

Under the Marcos presidency, the government hopes to construct one million housing units a year, drawing cheers from the millions of homeless Filipinos.

We, thus, commend the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), headed by Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar, for warning these”fixers.”

Acuzar assured the people, notably the ordinary wage earners, that there are fixer-free measures on how to avail themselves of the government’s housing projects.

He advised the public to inquire only from proper and authorized state offices and agencies.

Those those interested to avail themselves of the housing program may inquire from local government units (LGUs) and DHSUD key shelter agencies.

They include the Home Development Mutual Fund or Pag-IBIG Fund, Social Housing Finance Corp., National Home Mortgage Finance Corp. and National Housing Authority.

“Let me stress that no private individuals or groups are authorized to act on behalf of DHSUD with regard housing,” according to the country’s housing czar.

We urge concerned state authorities to do something more effective regarding fixers operating in all government offices throughout impoverished Philippines.
