
Honoring Biñan’s legacy: A triple celebration of history and progress
CITY OF BIÑAN, Laguna — The City of Biñan marked a significant milestone February 2, 2025 in a vibrant display of unity and gratitude as local leaders came together to celebrate the 15th anniversary of its cityhood, the 80th Liberation Day, and the 278th Founding Commemoration. This auspicious occasion, attended by hundreds of Biñanenses, served not only to honor the city’s illustrious past but also to look forward to its promising future.
The festivities commenced with a ceremonial gathering at Plaza Rizal, where Mayor Walfredo “Arman” R. Dimaguila, Vice Mayor Gel Alonte, Congresswoman Len Alonte-Naguiat, and Congressman Dan Fernandez addressed the public, expressing their deep appreciation for the community’s resilient spirit and collective achievements.
Mayor Arman Dimaguila emphasized the significance of this day in an interview with people’s Tonight: “Ating ipinagdiriwang ang tagumpay at kagitingan ng lahing Biñanense ngayong Araw ng Biñan 2025! Isang Biñan tayong nagpapahalaga sa ating nakaraan kaya’t Isang Biñan tayong sasalubong sa ating magandang bukas.”
Mayor Dimaguila’s remarks evoked a sense of pride and belonging among attendees who waved flags and banners celebrating their shared heritage.
He took this opportunity to honor the unsung heroes whose contributions have been pivotal in shaping Biñan’s growth and strengthening the community. “This tribute not only highlighted historical figures but also living locals whose dedication has had a lasting impact,” Mayor Dimaguila told to People’s Tonight.
In addition to the commemorative activities, local officials unveiled several upcoming development projects aimed at further improving the quality of life for Biñan residents.
Vice Mayor Gel Alonte shared the city’s future plans, announcing the construction of new school facilities, a modern hospital, housing projects, a Biñan Jail Facility, and the revitalization of Biñan Central Square.
“Maligayang Araw ng Biñan, mga Biñanense! Maraming salamat sa pagdalo sa Opening Ceremony and Grand People’s Parade sa Plaza Rizal. Nakakagalak makita ang pagkakaisa nating lahat bilang mga tunay na Biñanense!” the Vice Mayor told People’s Tonight reinforcing the importance of collaboration and community spirit.
The celebratory events continued with a Grand People’s Parade showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Biñan, featuring traditional dances, music, and vibrant floats that depicted significant moments in the city’s history.
As Biñan celebrates this trifecta of milestones, the leadership remains committed to fostering a strong community bond while steering the city toward progress and innovation.
