HONESTY is still the best policy for husband and wife members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) who were commended by General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar for returning a bag with P20,000 to its owner in Baler, Aurora last Thursday.

It turned out that Corporals Chester and Lynette-Reynoso-Alibin found the unattended bag in Barangay Pingit, Baler.

Alibin of the Aurora Police Provincial Office and his wife Lynetee, a member of the Baler Municipal Police Station were walking in the area when they spotted the bag apparently left behind by its owner around 2 p.m. Thursday.

When they opened the bag to check for the identity of the owner, they discovered that it contained the owner’s wallet with P20,069 cash and identification cards.

The two police officers wasted no time in immediately getting in touch with the owner to return her bag with the cash.

Eleazar praised the two or their honesty and urged other police officers to emulate the example of the couple.

“Saludo ako sa mag-asawang pulis na ito na naging tapat at ginawa ang tama sa kabila ng hirap na dinaranas nating lahat ngayong pandemya. Sana ay tularan sila ng iba pa sa ating hanay,” he said.
