BongON Sunday, January 19, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, recognized for his health reforms crusade, attended the inauguration of the Super Health Center in Moalboal, Cebu. This facility is part of the senator’s ongoing efforts to bring accessible healthcare services closer to Filipinos, especially in grassroots communities.

During his speech, Senator Go emphasized the significance of Super Health Centers, saying, “Ang mahalaga po ay maibigay natin ang tamang serbisyong medikal sa bawat Pilipino. Hindi po dapat maging hadlang ang kahirapan para makapagpa-check-up o magpagamot.”

The Super Health Center in Moalboal is equipped to handle primary care services, medical consultations, and early detection of diseases. It aims to reduce the burden on larger hospitals by addressing healthcare needs at the community level. The municipal health office and the local government unit (LGU), in partnership with the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) through its Konsulta program, can provide free consultations and services.

“Patuloy po akong tutulong sa pagpaparami ng Super Health Centers sa bansa sa abot po ng aking makakaya. Isa po itong paraan upang ilapit ang pangunahing serbisyong pangkalusugan sa ating mga kababayan,” shared Senator Go.

Through collaborative efforts of Senator Go, fellow legislators, Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Teodoro “Ted” Herbosa, and LGUs, funding has been secured for the establishment of more than 600 Super Health Centers nationwide and about 100 more this year. Cebu province alone is set to benefit from 21 of these facilities, strengthening its local healthcare infrastructure.

Senator Go acknowledged key officials who supported the project, including Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, Vice Governor Hilario Davide III, Moalboal Mayor Inocentes Cabaron, Yvonne Cabaron, and Vice Mayor Paz Rozgoni. Their collective efforts were vital in bringing the Super Health Center to fruition.

Additionally, Senator Go urged Moalboal residents and Cebuanos to make use of the medical assistance available at the province’s Malasakit Centers. Cebu is home to several of these one-stop shops located in Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC), St. Anthony Mother and Child Hospital, and Cebu City Medical Center—all in Cebu City.

Other Malasakit Centers in the province include Eversley Childs Sanitarium and General Hospital in Mandaue City, Cebu South Medical Center in Talisay City, Lapu-Lapu City District Hospital in Lapu-Lapu City, and Cebu Provincial Hospital in Carcar City.

“Gamitin po natin ang Malasakit Centers para sa inyong pangangailangang medikal. Nandiyan po ang gobyerno para tumulong sa inyo,” said Senator Go, reminding the public that the centers have already assisted over 15 million Filipinos since the enactment of Republic Act No. 11463, which he principally authored and sponsored.

The inauguration also highlighted Senator Go’s continuing service to communities. Attendees received grocery packs, meals, and shirts, ensuring an inclusive and welcoming celebration of the new healthcare facility.
