Heed the call

THE public would do well to heed the appeal of the government to conserve water, food and energy resources as the El Nino weather phenomenon threatens to affect more provinces.

Without doubt, the Filipino people, particularly those now hit hard by the weather phenomenon, want the authorities to do more to cushion the impact of El Nino.

But we share the view of Malacanang that the public ought to make “little behavioral changes in conserving water, food and energy resources.”

In urging the people to also do their part as the government intensifies its conservation efforts, Malacanang said the people should not let their guard down.

“We should do our share to help,” said Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Assistant Secretary Joey Villarama, the spokesperson of Task Force El Nino.

ASEC Villarama said one example of “behevioral changes” would be to always remember to switch off lights or appliances when these are not in use.”

The Marcos government should be commended for giving priority to ensuring that the people have enough water, food and energy during El Nino.

It will be up to the citizenry, including the ordinary Filipinos across the Philippines, to brace for the worst because we are against nature.

Talagang hindi natin alam kung ano ang mga susunod na mangyayari dahil kalikasan nga ‘yan.

We hope our countrymen will wake up to their moral responsibility to help the government in unburdening the people from the problems of El Nino.
