Hardware store loses P1M to thieves in Laguna

TWO unidentified thieves carted away more than P1 million cash from a hardware store they robbed early Thursday morning at Purok 2 Bgy. San Antonio, Pila, Laguna.

Pila Police investigators said that both unidentified suspects used a banana tree trunk to climb on the house wall.

The owner of Lucky 178 hardware, Andy Co, 54, first discovered the robbery incident at around 12:30 after reviewing the CCTV (closed-circuit television) camera installed inside the hardware.

In a statement given to the investigator, the first suspect is medium build, wearing a blue t-shirt, green with a touch of yellow shorts, and a green t-shirt was used to cover his face.

His companion has a medium build, wearing a red sando, black shorts, a tattoo on his right shoulder, and a blue t-shirt to cover his face.

Initial investigation revealed that when the police investigator arrived, the crime scene was already contaminated as the hardware staff and the victim roamed around the crime scene.

Based on the statement of the victim, when he woke up in the morning, he saw that their belongings in the office were scattered on the floor, and upon reviewing the CCTV, the two suspects took his vault, some money on the table, and proceeded to the second floor to exit in an under-construction part of the house.

Meanwhile, a follow-up investigation is being conducted by Pila Police Station for possible identification and arrest of the suspects.

The missing vault contains estimated P1,000,000 cash and several bank book.
