‘Gunrunner’ nabbed in Lipa City

AUTHORITIES arrested a 37-year-old “gunrunner” after selling a handgun to a poseur buyer during an entrapment operation in Barangay San Isidro, Lipa City, Batangas, the other day.

Lipa City Police Station (CPS) Chief Lt. Col. Col Rix S. Villareal said the suspect is a tricycle driver, with a live-in partner, of Purok 4, Bgy. San Isidro.

According to case investigators P/SMS Arnold D. Delfin, P/SSg. Glenn Allan Mandal, and P/Cpl. Alberto D. Bombales, Jr., the Lipa CPS personnel, conducted a buy-bust operation of illegal firearms at San Isidro Public Cemetery around 5:00 p.m. and met the suspect.

After the deal, police encircled and arrested the suspect who sold one cal. 38 revolver without a serial number loaded with five live bullets to P/Cpl Gerald Neil R. Kison, who acted as a buyer.

The suspect also yielded a plastic sachet of shabu, weighing 5 grams and worth P34,500.

The suspect will be charged with violating Republic Act No.10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and the Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
