Gun-wielding man collared; 1 killed in San Juan road crash

SAN JUAN, Batangas – Authorities arrested a man with a gun roaming around in the vicinity of Barangay Lipahan in this municipality Tuesday evening.

San Juan Municipal Police Station (MPS) Commander P/Lt. Col. Jesus F. Lintag said the suspect is a resident of Barangay Lipahan.

Police said there were no other details yet about the suspect.

A telephone call from the scared resident was received by San Juan MPS informing that the suspect was seen roaming around in the said village carrying a gun.

Cops on patrol were immediately dispatched to ascertain the report, and upon reaching the place, they sighted a man with a firearm tucked in his right waist.

Police said the suspect drew the gun but was quickly grabbed and arrested by the responding officers.

Lawmen confiscated from his possession was one caliber .38, with a serial number and loaded with five live ammo.

The arrested suspect was brought to San Juan District Hospital for physical and medical examination.

Meanwhile, a man was killed after the car he was driving was accidentally hit by another vehicle on the national road of Bgy. Abung in San Juan town on Tuesday.

Around 2:05 p.m. on November 1, Tuesday, in Bgy. Abung, the victim, was seen driving his vehicle along the highway when another car driven by the suspect accidentally hit him.

The victim sustained injuries in different parts of the body and was immediately brought to San Juan District Hospital for medical treatment but was declared dead on arrival at about 2:52 p.m. on the same date by the attending physician.
