A MAN carrying a gun was caught at a checkpoint in Bataan.

In a report to Bataan police director Col. Romell Velasco, Dinalupihan police commander Lt. Col. Emelito dela Cruz said his men nabbed Marcelino Lapada, 49, a resident of E. Santos, Balibago, Angeles City.

Police manning a checkpoint in Porac-Dinalupihan Road, Bgy. Tucop flagged down the plateless motorcycle being driven by Lapada and when asked for his driver’s license and vaccination card, he told officers he was an agent of the CIDG (Criminal Investigation and Detection Group) and voluntarily opened his black belt bag to show that he was armed.

Lapada was requested to show the certificate of authority issued by the Committee on the Ban on Firearms and Security Concerns (CBFSC) but could not show it, prompting the cops to arrest him.

Confiscated from Lapada was a cal. .45 pistol loaded with eight live bullets.

Lapada will be charged with violations of Republic Act 10591 (Illegal possession of firearms) and Comelec gun ban.
