Grandpa, 85, drowns in Calatagan resort

AN 85-YEAR-OLD grandfather died after drowning while bathing at a beach resort in Calatagan, Batangas the other day.

Calatagan Municipal Police Station Chief PMaj. Ronnie B. Aurellano, Officer-in-Charge (OIC) identified the fatality as Francisco Roque Ambrocio, Sr., a resident of Bgy. Flores, Malabon City.

A call from Calatagan Medicare Hospital reported to the police that they admitted a patient of drowning incident at 12:50 p.m.

Case officers PSSgs. Dennis H. Mira and Angelo V. Barcelon said that according to Ronald Ambrocio, son of the victim, at about 12:00 p.m., they stayed in one beach resort at Sitio Calambuyan, Bgy. Sta. Ana, Calatagan.

He said his father was seen swimming on the knee level portion of the seawater.

Moments later his attention was called because his father was losing his balance due to the strong currents, submerged for a while and when he reached for his father, he brought him to the seashore and sought help from the resort employee.

Dra. Princess Palacio who was present at the resort immediately conducted a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and was later brought to Calatagan Medicare Hospital but declared dead on arrival by attending physician Dra. Phibby Macanlalay at around 12:20 p.m.
