LUCENA CITY – Three were killed when an 18-year-old boy allegedly scolded by her mother went on a stabbing spree at Bgy. Madulao, Catanauan, Quezon on Monday.

Capt. Lindley Tibuc, acting Chief of police of Catanauan Police Station, identified the suspect as Rey Jhon Villena Lazo, a Grade 7 student of the said village.

The victims were Lazo’s own mother Rosita, 54; his sister, and a minor neighbor.

The three victims died on the spot from multiple stab wounds. Loreta Petalbo Donor, a 68-year-old neighbor of the Lazos, was injured when the suspect also attacked her.

Donor is being treated at the Bondoc Peninsula District Hospital.

Prior to the stabbing spree, Rey Jhon arrived home drunk and was allegedly reprimanded by his mother at 2:30 a.m. on Monday.

Irked, the young suspect grabbed a knife and stabbed his mother and sister.

He also attacked with a knife a minor neighbor and Donor before seeking refuge at a friend’s house also in the same village.

Responding lawmen led by SSgt. Michael Adao arrested the suspect. At the police station, the suspect admitted to killing the 3 victims.

“Ang sabi nya dumating siya na lasing at pinagalitan daw siya ng nanay niya at ang sabi ay huwag na raw siyang umuwi. Pero may isa pang anggulo kaming iniimbestigahan,” said Tibuc, who did not elaborate if it was about illegal drug use.

During the investigation, the suspect also pointed to the police the location of the murder weapon and the bloodied short pants that he wore during the stabbing.

Charges for parricide, murder, and frustrated murder are being readied for filing in court against Rey Jhon.
